Frequency Ranges of Brainwave Activity
Beta - Awake State
Beta is present when we are alert, engaging in problem solving, decision making, focused mental activity, and active conversation. A heightened state of beta is associated with anxiety, stress, or panic.
Alpha - Meditative State
Alpha is considered the gateway to the subconscious mind and is linked to creativity, relaxation, and decreased anxiety. It often serves as a bridge between the conscious mind and other subconscious activities.
Theta - Sleep State
Theta is found in daydreaming, deep meditation, and light sleep, including the REM dream state. It is also linked to increased creativity, memory, and emotional experiences.
Delta - Deep Sleep State
Delta allows for the body's physical healing and regeneration process, promoting immune system function and cell repair. It is also linked to the unconscious mind, and its presence often signifies a state of complete relaxation, where external awareness is minimal and the brain is fully at rest.
Breathwork
The breath is a constant, mechanical action in the body. For most of our lives, we take it for granted.
But if we’re wise enough to become aware of it, the breath becomes a heavenly opportunity to cultivate greater joy and presence.
The importance of conscious breathing (or breathwork) forms the foundation of countless spiritual paths:
The Yogis say that breathwork is the key to controlling Prana, the cosmic life force that flows through all living beings.
The Sufis believe that breathwork enables us to feel the breath of God, the energy that sustains all creation.
The Taoists teach that breathwork helps us harness Chi, the universal life energy behind everything.
I hope you can see the similarities. Across traditions, conscious breathing is revered as a pathway to deeper awareness, presence, and connection with the universe.
Breathwork Techniques
First Technique: The Full Body Breath
Inhale deeply through your nose, focusing on releasing tension. Begin by filling your lower belly with air.
Exhale, then inhale again, this time filling both your lower and upper belly, followed by a smooth exhale.
On your next inhale, fill your entire belly, then move up to your solar plexus and lower chest, and exhale.
Continue by inhaling in stages—first your lower belly, then your solar plexus, and finally your entire chest.
Repeat for several breaths, inhaling fully from your belly up to your chest. Exhale slowly and smoothly, allowing each breath to relax and energize you.
Second Technique: Alternate Nostril Breathing
Close your right nostril with your right thumb and inhale slowly through your left nostril.
Close your left nostril with your right ring finger, release your right nostril, and exhale through the right nostril.
Inhale through the right nostril, close it, and exhale through the left nostril.
This completes one cycle. Perform about 5–10 cycles at a comfortable pace.
Honestly, it's best to watch a video guide for breathing techniques. That way, you can follow along and get a better understanding.
Intuition In Theta State
In Part 4 of Psychic Powers, I discussed imagination and the importance of freeing yourself from the mind’s limitations. Now, I want to build on that foundation by exploring how imagination can help you tap into your intuition.
To truly access your intuition, you need to reach the Theta state (or deeper), which you can achieve using one of the primary methods we’ve covered in this series.
Previously, you visualized your own home. Now, I want you to imagine a laboratory—a space entirely of your choosing. Once you’ve created this space, it’s time to outfit it with symbolic instruments designed to work with your intuition.
But before I dive into the next steps, it’s essential to understand that intuition and other psychic abilities don’t operate from the left side of the brain, which handles logic and language. Instead, they are rooted in the right side of the brain, which thrives on images, symbols, and non-linear thought. This is why freeing your imagination from logical constraints is crucial. These intuitive abilities are intertwined with symbols and imagery, and the instruments you visualize in your laboratory will act as tools to support your intuition.
So, imagine whatever you feel would help you in this space:
Lotions for fast healing
Baths to wash away guilt
A sound system with music to calm distress
Perfum for good luck
This laboratory is your personal sanctuary, designed to aid you. Create whatever tools or instruments feel right to you.
As you work with these tools, you might notice that something is missing—an essential component for deeper understanding and guidance.
That missing element is wise counsel. You may find yourself facing perplexing questions or feel uncertain about how to use your instruments effectively.
This is where you need to take a leap of faith. If you’ve truly developed your imaginative abilities and are fully immersed in this visualization, you can summon counsellors to guide you.
These counsellors are symbolic representations of your intuition. They often appear spontaneously and are not fully under your control. If you try to summon a specific person, you may not get exactly what you expected—but you’ll rarely be disappointed.
A graduate of the Silva Mind Control Method once set the intention to meet Albert Einstein during a deep meditative state. Instead, he found himself face-to-face with a small man dressed in clown paint, sporting a rose-coloured ping-pong ball for a nose and a cap with a spinning pinwheel. Surprisingly, this quirky character became a valuable source of practical advice for the graduate.
Too often, we think of our imagination as immature or a source of distractions. But in truth, it’s a God-given tool that simply needs a bit of fine-tuning.
Self-Mastery
Self-mastery is essential on the path to becoming a conscious human being and understanding your true aspirations. This whole series is dedicated to that goal.
To achieve self-mastery is to recognize the desires, emotions, gunas (qualities), and sensations we experience—and to detach from them. Once you stop being a puppet to these impulses, you gain true freedom.
In this state, you catch a glimpse of something transcendent, rising above the noise of daily life.
It’s there that you’ll uncover your true aspirations!
